10 things you didn't know about cart abandonment (infographic)
Shopping cart (or basket) abandonment can indicate problems for retailers.
High abandonment rates may stem from usability problems on the site, a lack of clarity around charges, or perhaps that customers don’t trust their payment details on a particular site.

No cart abandonment seems to be the same, still we did an interesting experiment with one of our customers (a German fashion retailer), and tried to reduce cart abandonment based on machine learning (i.e. a real time recommendations engine). The results have been presented in a session at Internet World UK last year. The slides are here: http://de.slideshare.net/berndburkert/internet-world-2014handout The ‘beef’ is in slide 24: 4% of the visitors (the ones with a cart abandonment probability > 95%) had been offered an incentive (free shipping), and they generated 25% of the revenue.Lowering cart abandonment is a huge ‘resource’ to grow the eCommerce business.
