BuzzFeed has raised $50m to fund an international expansion plan following a reshuffle of its management.

The site is looking to dominate the social sphere by launching a 20-strong social media team called BuzzFeed Distributed – to specifically create content to swamp social media sites channels as Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine and messaging apps.
The company’s editorial team will be split into three divisions: news, life and team (which covers web culture). All three will report to editor-in-chief, Ben Smith.
New appointments in editorial and management include Chris Dixon, who will join BuzzFeed’s board of directors and co-founder Kenneth Lerer will become executive chairman.
The company is also re-branding its video editing team – BuzzFeed Motion Pictures – which will start producing longer-form video to develop its media wing.
