Twitter’s mobile app now includes Promoted Accounts ads, extending the reach for marketers who want to increase their follower ranks. The San Francisco-based company announced the development today, stating that Promoted Tweets will “in the coming weeks” appear in news feeds via its app as well.
A Twitter PR email sent to ClickZ added, “Initially, a small number of users may see Promoted Tweets near the top of their timelines from brands they already follow. This will help ensure that people see important Tweets from the brands they care about.”
The app updates will affect iPhone and Android users. Mobile web viewers have been able to see the Twitter’s Promoted Products – Promoted Trends, Promoted Tweets, and Promoted Accounts – for some time, as the user experience has been similar to online.
