Blitz has acquired social media marketing shop Big Method for an undisclosed sum, the two companies announced on Tuesday.
Big Method’s 15 employees will report to work at Blitz’s Santa Monica, CA headquarters on Sept. 1. According to its website, Big Method’s clients include Honda, Polaroid, Hollywood Records, and Virgin Money.
In a prepared release, Blitz stated that its clients like Pepsi and THQ anticipate using Big Method’s social analytics and research platform. Ivan Todorov, Blitz CEO, added in a statement that the purchase represented how social media “is crucial component to any integrated marketing campaign.”
There’s been a flurry of acquisitions by agencies like Blitz during 2011. On Aug. 19, WPP Digital purchased Arkansas-based shop Rockfish Interactive. That deal followed on the heels of Publicis’ purchase of 51 percent of Big Fuel, a New York-based social media shop that has grown from 30 to 170 employees in the last 18 months.
Earlier in the year, WPP acquired a stake in F. Biz, a digital agency in Brazil. Prior to that, it wrapped up four of its digital agencies – Schematic, Bridge Worldwide, BLUE, and Quasar – into a single unit known as Possible Worldwide.
