Digitas Vet Takes Helm of Modem Media HQ

After five years, David Lynch is leaving his gig as MD of Modem's Norwalk office.

Interactive shop Modem Media has named Digitas veteran Dani Nadel an executive VP and managing director of its Norwalk, Conn. headquarters.

Nadel, formerly senior VP marketing with corporate sibling Digitas in New York, replaces David Lynch, a 10-year veteran of Modem who had served as managing director of the Norwalk office for the last five years. Lynch resigned his position and is “looking for other opportunities,” but will remain to assist in the transition, which becomes effective April 4.

“[Nadel] brings to Norwalk the experience and ability to speed our efforts to enhance and expand our service offerings, and to support new and ongoing dialogues with clients about multi-channel marketing opportunities,” said Martin Reidy, president of Modem Media. “She has amassed an enviable record of experience developing cross-capability teams, across a range of clients, including some of Digitas’ largest.”

At Digitas, Nadel most recently led the agency’s relationship with America Online and developed new business opportunities. She joined Digitas in 1990, and was part of the team that launched Digitas New York in 1997.

Digitas announced in July 2004 its plan to acquire Modem Media in a $200 million stock transaction, which closed in October. As part of the acquisition, Modem Media’s San Francisco and London offices absorbed the Digitas offices in those cities. Digitas maintains its offices in Boston, New York and Chicago.

“Dave has built a team of key leaders who form the bedrock of Modem Media,” Reidy added. “He and these leaders have positioned this agency for growth following our integration with the Digitas Inc. family. I’m grateful for his commitment and for his leadership — particularly through transition. I wish him the best on his next path, personally and professionally.”

Scott Sorokin, formerly managing director of Grey Interactive Worldwide, was named MD of Modem’s San Francisco office in February 2004. Norm Johnston, a founding member of Modem Media’s London office, replaced Michael de Kare-Silver as MD of that office in October 2004.
