Execs and Accounts for June 25, 2003

Hi-Speed Media names Bennet Kelley as VP of legal affairs in a bid to address legislation concerns; James Brubaker signs on as SVP and management director of GlobalWorks Group, heading up the Ernst & Young account; WebSourced signs a search marketing contract with Monica Lewinsky, among other new clients.

In a bid to address potential client concerns and legal issues related to the rising tide of email regulation, online direct marketer Hi-Speed Media has appointed spam authority Bennet Kelley as VP of legal and strategic affairs.

“Adding Bennet is part of our commitment to be proactive on email regulation issues and clearly define Hi-Speed Media as a force within the permission based marketing industry,” said Farshad Fardad, Hi-Speed’s president.

Kelley most recently represented a number of multimedia marketing companies through a private practice. He was also VP of business, legal & governmental affairs for Network Commerce, a Web services company, and general counsel of ETM Entertainment Network.

James Brubaker has been appointed senior VP and management director for on- and offline multicultural marketing agency GlobalWorks Group. He will begin by assuming management of the Ernst & Young account, where GlobalWorks is the interactive agency of record.

Brubaker was most recently SVP and management director at Foote, Cone & Belding, in New York, where he led the charge to globally reposition Qwest Communications . In his 10 years with that agency, he also launched rich media player Viewpoint and repositioned and built market share for 1-800-CALL-ATT. Previous to that, he was an account supervisor at Saatchi & Saatchi.

“Jim is an innovative business builder who delivers to clients the ideas and execution needed to win in a tough economy and in challenging categories,” GlobalWorks CEO Yuri Radzievsky said.

Apparently even scandalized former White House interns need a little search engine marketing love.

WebSourced, owner of KeywordRanking.com and ProRanking.com, has recently signed a search marketing contract with Monica Lewinsky, along with several other new clients. Additional new business wins include Crutchfield, Peopleclick and Alaska Airlines, bringing the company’s total client base to more than a thousand.

IndustryBrains, a performance-based online ad network, has hired Thomas Koletas as VP of advertising sales. Koletas, who has held posts as VP of sales at TheStreet.com and wireless marketer Enpocket, will manage existing IndustryBrains accounts such as Verisign, Cisco and Microstrategy, while expanding sales efforts into the travel, construction and finance sectors.

Koletas also spent 10 years in sales at Ziff Davis Media, where he managed the Compaq brand on a corporate network level of over 17 magazines, ZD web and research tools.
