Ogilvy's digital and direct unit acquires Global Strategies International for an undisclosed sum.
Neo@Ogilvy, The Ogilvy Group’s global digital and direct media company, has acquired search firm Global Strategies International (GSI). The move complements Neo’s current offerings of both paid and organic services by adding deeper expertise in natural search optimization.
“We’re looking at GSI to help us build other facets of the search practice, especially using search as a way to learn more about consumers and their behavior, and as a measure of marketing effectiveness,” said Greg Smith, COO at Neo@Ogilvy.
GSI was founded in 2004 by Bill Hunt and partners Jeremy Sanchez and Andy Weatherwax. The three will continue to run GSI, which will retain its identity within Neo@Ogilvy. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“At Neo we believe search is a critical element in a 360-degree strategy that has previously been viewed as a silo activity of techies,” said Smith. “This integration will help bring search into the mainstream, recognizing its role in all levels of the purchase cycle from branding to conversion.”
