Kokopelli New Media, a full-service Web site development, Internet marketing, and multimedia design agency in Silicon Alley, created a new promotional site for VH1 Save the Music.
VH1 Save The Music is the music channel’s public-education campaign about music education. The new site is also accessible via the VH1 Online site and “keyword VH1” on America Online. Billings were not disclosed.
The Save The Music campaign was created to help restore music education to America’s public schools and to raise awareness that music education dramatically increases early brain development and improves overall academic performance.
The campaign raises money to buy new musical instruments for schools in need. The 1997 New York City pilot program restored and supported instrumental programs in more than 80 public schools.
Kokopelli said it designed the Web site to appeal to educators, students, and parents. The site includes a pop quiz that tests users’ musical aptitude, “sounding boards” or chat areas, an area where users can donate instruments, tool kits to help users get involved in their own communities, and links to other music-education sites. Throughout the site are original audio and video clips of musicians such as Phil Collins, Babyface, Queen Latifah, David Bowie, Sting, Sheryl Crow, and Jon Bon Jovi.
