MSN Grows, Profits

The company attributes its growth to ad sales strength.

Microsoft’s MSN division pulled in $588 million in revenues in the second quarter of the company’s 2005 fiscal year, resulting in operating income of $130,000.

Microsoft made the numbers public as it reported earnings for the quarter.

The company attributed MSN’s growth to strength in display advertising and strong international growth. The revenue numbers represent an 8 percent growth rate over the Q2 2004.

In Q2 2005, MSN released beta versions of several new products: its algorithmic search engine; its desktop search product; its MSN Spaces blogging tool; MSN Messenger version 7; and the MSN Toolbar suite.
