Digital marketing agency based in Dallas says clients are reducing budgets for 2009.
Imc2, a digital marketing agency based in Dallas, is eliminating one in six positions, according to a memo obtained Thursday by ClickZ News.
“Many of our clients have cut back on their marketing spend now and have decreased their budgets for next year based on what is happening in their businesses,” reads the memo from Doug Levy, imc2 president. He said the agency is preparing “for what might be a significant and prolonged recession.”
Levy stated the agency plans to eliminate approximately 17 percent of its positions. That represents about 70 of the agency’s 430 positions, leaving imc2 with a staff of 360.
Employees in each of its offices were given the news during company-wide meetings earlier this week, according to an employee who asked not to be identified. In addition to its Dallas headquarters, imc2 has offices in New York City, Philadelphia, and Cincinnati.
Clients include Pfizer, Pizza Hut, Lowe’s, Procter & Gamble, Centex Home Mortgage, according to imc2’s Web site.
It’s not the first time that imc2 has downsized. Back in 2001, the agency reportedly cut back its payroll, yet survived the dot-com bust.
The agency joins a growing roster of digital marketing companies attributing layoffs to the economic downturn.
