MyFamily.com continues its portal deal strategy, inking an agreementwith Excite@Home.
Genealogy and family community player MyFamily.com Inc. on Monday forged an alliance with broadband content and access firm Excite@Home, to provide Excite.com users with a co-branded site, Excite Genealogy.
The deal, which incorporates content from MyFamily.com’s Ancestry.com site, will allow Excite users to research their family history through Excite.com.
This deal is the fifth portal deal MyFamily.com has entered into in the past twelve months. MyFamily.com has similar deals with America Online, among others. The company credits the deals for driving a 50 percent increase in subscriptions so far this year.
“We are constantly looking for opportunities to introduce people to the depth of our free content and the value of our subscription-based content. This latest portal deal with Excite solidifies our position as the leading resource in family history and genealogy online,” said Andre Brummer, general manager of Ancestry.com.
The Excite Genealogy site will be able to browse Ancestry.com’s collection of historic maps and online publications from leading family history experts. Users will also be able to receive a free email newsletter, and can order genealogy products through the site.
