Execs & Accounts for June 30, 2004

DMA still looking for Wientzen replacement; PointRoll makes hires; and Burgis joins Agency.com.

The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) is still trying to replace departing President and CEO Bob Weintzen, who had originally planned to step down today. In a statement, the DMA said it was still conducting an executive search, and that Weintzen agreed to stay on until the ideal candidate is found.

“The DMA is confident that the search process is moving along in an appropriate and efficient manner, consistent with the principles originally outlined by the DMA board and the executive search committee,” the association said. “As soon as the search committee concludes its process, the name of new head of the association will be announced.”

Weintzen announced his plans to step down earlier this year.

PointRoll hired Mitch Rose as VP of marketing and appointed seven individuals to sales management positions.

The new sales staff includes Drew Green, VP of strategic sales; Rob Clark, director of channel development for Yahoo; Sarah Covey Mitchell, director of sales in New York; Sally Sullivan, head of sales for the Pacific region; Hans Theisen, director of Midwest sales in Chicago; Eric Thornton, director of channel development for AOL; and Jennie Delaney, head of New England sales in the Boston office.

Exile on Seventh President Alan Burgis will become a senior VP at Agency.com following Exile’s acquisition by that company. Burgis has held posts as managing director of McCann-Erickson’s San Francisco office, chairman of FCB Australia, and CEO of Euro RSCG in Australia. On the client side, he was marketing director with Frito-Lay and Bristol-Meyers in Australia.

EPrize VP of Product Development Josh Glantz was promoted to managing director of the company’s New York office. Before joining ePrize, Glantz was a principal at BRM Capital Management and a founder of XCom Corporation. EPrize also recently picked up Hampton Hotels as a client.
