Execs & Accounts: Demand Media, IMC, Hearst

Demand Media launches Livestrong.com for Lance Armstrong Foundation; David Shulman is tapped to head IMC's New York office.

IMC named David Shulman managing director of its New York office. Shulman left his post as managing director of Digitas Detroit. At IMC he will serve on the senior leadership team.

Lance Armstrong Foundation and Demand Media launched Livestrong.com, a health and wellness destination.

Hearst hired a national sales director in digital, and expanded the roles of two in the digital sales team. Chris Carter, national sales director, was previously at Weather.com, and was at Time Inc. for five years before that.

Publicis Groupe entered a joint venture in China with Integrated Interactive Solutions. The venture, between Publicis global advertising network Saatchi & Saatchi and Energy Source, will form a new agency called Saatchi & Saatchi Energy Source Integrated Interactive Solutions.

Rose Mills was promoted to Midwest director of Hears Magazines Digital media. She has been with Hearst for six years. Dave Woodruff, group advertising director in Detroit for Hearst Integrated Media, will add digital sales for automotive accounts in Detroit.

Millennial Media added new publishers to its mobile ad network. TV Guide, The Boston Herald, Goal.com, GoTV’s video service, and The Washington Times are among the participating sites.

Patrick DeAngelis was appointed chief technology officer of [x+1]. For the past two years he was CTO of Infotrieve. Before that he was founder and CTO of CentrPort.

Gawker tapped Gorilla Nation to exclusively rep its advertising to Canadian audiences. The covers 12 vertical sites, including Gawker, Defamer, Jezebel, Gizmodo, Lifehacker, Jalopnik, Kotaku, and Valleywag.

David Moore was elected vice chair of the IAB. Moore is chairman and CEO of 24/7 Real Media. Other members elected to the IAB board include Lynda Clarizio, president of AOL/Platform-A; Cesar Conde, EVP and chief strategy officer of Univision; Greg D’Alba, EVP and COO of CNN Advertising Sales and Marketing; Gordon McLeod, president of the Wall Street Journal Digital Network; and Christopher Ma, VP of The Washington Post.

BabyCenter named Michael Fogarty group publisher. Fogarty will be responsible for the company’s media revenue, and oversee content monetization, advertising operations, consumer acquisition, and trade marketing functions. Fogarty was EVP of online properties at Kaboose before joining BabyCenter.

HipCricket signed a deal with Spanish Broadcasting System. The deal expands HipCricket’s Hispanic Network reach to more than 100 stations in the U.S. HipCricket also appointed Kraig Kitchin to its board of directors.
