Free Ad-Backed Monitors Offered

Broadscape.com Inc. said it plans tobuild an electronic marketing network based on the complimentary distributionof 19-inch color computer monitors that operate with Broadscape's proprietary"always on top" ad messaging software when users are online.

Broadscape.com Inc. said it plans to build an electronic marketing network based on the complimentary distribution of 19-inch color computer monitors that operate with Broadscape’s proprietary “always on top” ad messaging software when users are online.

When off-line, the messaging frame is inactive allowing complete use of the monitor’s screen, the company said.

MyWay.com, a CMGI affiliate, and Broadscape.com entered a multi-million dollar strategic partnership under which MyWay.com will provide customizable content, including the AltaVista search engine, for a co-branded start page.

Monitor manufacturer KDS will build the initial units. Broadscape said it expects to start shipping the first 100,000 units in March 2000. Applications for the monitors are being accepted immediately at the Broadscape site.

“We’ve engineered a revolutionary product that will truly enhance the computing experience for consumers while simultaneously giving advertisers access to a powerful one-to-one e-marketing network,” said Anthony Salvaggio, founder and CEO.

In exchange for the free monitors, consumers will provide typical demographic data and will be obligated to meet a monthly usage requirement.
