Sarah Fay becomes the first digital agency native to rise to the top of a major ad agency network in the United States.
Sarah Fay has scaled yet another rung at agency network Aegis Group, becoming CEO of Aegis Media North America. Departing Aegis Americas CEO David Verklin has been one of the ad industry’s more prominent pundits in recent years. No reason was given for his departure, announced late today.
The promotion continues Fay’s rapid rise at the network, where she was previously CEO of Carat and Isobar USA. She only ascended to that post last July, when Carat USA and Carat Fusion officially combined to form one of the first completely integrated agencies. Prior to that she was head of Carat Digital. She’s one of the few interactive agency pioneers to reach the upper echelon of traditional agency networks.
Scott Sorokin, Carat president, will “remain responsible” for the agency as Fay moves up to more senior management of Aegis’ North American business.
Aegis, in a statement, said Verklin would “remain available” to the company in the coming months.
Separately, Aegis created created a new business unit, Aegis Media Latin America. The move has digital implications, as Aegis acquired Brazilian interactive firm AgenciaClick last year.
