Ad player L90 takes its viral marketing technology on the road, in abid to diversify its revenue streams.
Ad firm L90 Inc. on Wednesday inked two deals to license out its viral marketing technology, L90Link, to XYPOINT Corp. and PurpleTie.com, marking the first time that the firm has sold the service on a stand-alone basis.
L90Link allows users to do word-of-mouth email referrals that include promotions and incentives, thereby boosting customer acquisition.
Until these recent deals, the service was only available to L90’s clients as part of an integrated campaign. The decision to license the technology marks L90’s effort to continue to diversify its revenue streams, by offering both services and technology.
“L90Link will still be hosted through adMonitor, which will provide real-time inventory management, comprehensive financials, referral tracking, and real-time reporting of opt-in viral marketing programs for our clients,” said Matt Spiegel, manager of L90 Direct Marketing.
XYPOINT will use L90Link for WebWirelessNow, a free service that enables users to access Internet information from digital phones. PurpleTie.com, which offers dry cleaning, laundry and other convenience-driven services via the Internet, will be using L90Link to generate word-of-mouth interest in its service, which launches this August.
