MasterCard International partners with Major League Baseball on interactive promotion; Interactive gaming veteran Alan Miller joins Skyworks management team; Anite Telecoms taps The Townsend Agency for media relations.

MasterCard International has partnered with Major League Baseball to create an interactive promotion that will have fans voting on baseball’s most memorable moment. The “MasterCard Presents Major League Baseball Memorable Moments” initiative will invite baseball fans to vote on MLB.com, the official Web site of Major League Baseball, as well as via in-stadium balloting.

IconNicholson, the New York office of IconMedialab, has developed a program of Web banners for MasterCard aimed at increasing brand awareness and highlighting the promotion. IconNicholson’s online marketing campaign is part of a larger integrated marketing program developed by McCann-Erickson that highlights memorable moments of baseball history.

Interactive gaming veteran Alan Miller has joined “advergame” developer Skyworks as the company’s new vice president of business development. Over the past 25 years, Miller has held executive and management positions at some of the largest and best-known gaming companies. Beginning with Atari in 1979, where he worked as a game designer and senior programmer on the Atari 2600, Miller went on to co-found Activision, the first independent video game publisher, with David Crane, Skyworks’ co-founder and CTO. He also co-founded Accolade and Click Health, a software education company featuring children’s health issues, where he served as CEO.

At Skyworks, Miller will manage new business planning, strategy, and development efforts. Additionally, he will be an integral part of the company’s in-house development team.

“Al brings a proven ability to help successfully guide a sales staff and expand new business efforts,” said Garry Kitchen, president and CEO of Skyworks. “Al’s understanding of the gaming industry will help us to continue our focus on delivering the finest products and services available to both potential and existing clientele.”

Anite Telecoms, a provider of measurement technology for the wireless industry, has selected The Townsend Agency to manage worldwide media relations. Based in San Diego, California, The Townsend Agency will facilitate the media relationships Anite Telecoms already has in place, as well as expand outreach to address all publications covering wireless telecommunications.

“We are confident in The Townsend Agency’s ability to promote Anite Telecoms and its wireless test and measurement solutions,” said Sonny Waheed, head of marketing services for Anite Telecoms.
