Yahoo! Poaches MSN Content Exec

Online veteran sees Yahoo! as 'best positioned' to create compelling content.

Yahoo hired MSN’s general manager of programming away from Microsoft. Scott Moore joins as the company’s VP of content operations within the media group.

Moore manages content operations for four publishing groups at MSN: MSN Channels, MSNBC.com, MSN Video and MSN Autos. He additionally leads MSNBC.com as president. Earlier, he was publisher of Slate, overseeing distribution, ad sales and business development. He’s also a past board member at the Online Publishers Association.

He honed his skills on the advertising side in posts as ad manager for Expedia Travel, MSNBC’s director of advertising and business development, and business development manager for Sidewalk.

“We believe Scott has the right combination of media and Internet experience, leadership skills and business acumen to help realize the full potential of our media offerings,” said Yahoo Media head Lloyd Braun.

Moore will report directly to Braun and will operate out of the Yahoo’s Santa Monica office. His employment is effective the first week of May.

“I believe Yahoo is in the best position to meet the growing demand for compelling content on the Internet, and I’m looking forward to partnering with the most creative minds in the business to help make it happen,” said Moore in a statement.
