Tremor Raises $18 Million, Plans Video Ad Network Improvements

Money will fund international expansion, improved monetization and other efforts.

Armed with $18 million in new funding, online video ad network Tremor Media said it plans to expand its network, improve its video ad monetization platform, called Acudeo, and continue its international expansion.

The new Series C funding round was led by Meritech Capital Partners, which worked with the company’s existing investors. Prior investments came from Canaan Partners, Masthead Venture Partners and European Founders Fund.

“It’s definitely a tough market and our ability to raise this money is certainly indicative of the success we had as a company,” said Tremor Media CEO Jason Glickman. “It’s equally indicative of the online video space and how hot it is. Online is one of the only bright spots in the video world in 2009.”

Earlier this month, Tremor Media announced an expansion of the range of metrics it offers advertisers and publishers. The company will provide TV-like campaign analytics as well as data about unique visitors, reach, frequency and engagement.

Glickman said Tremor aggregates about 1,400 publishers and reaches approximately 136 million users on monthly basis.
