Newspaper Gobbles Up Local Parenting Site

Interesting occurence in Milwaukee this week

wagon.gifInteresting occurence in Milwaukee this week. The city’s newspaper, the Journal Sentinal, picked up (for an undisclosed dollar amount) MilwaukeeMoms.com, a site dedicated to parents of young children. The newspaper plans to merge the site with its own monthly “Metroparent” magazine. In operation since 2002, MilwaukeeMoms.com offers content, including a weekly syndicated MomTalk Radio podcast, and boasts an active discussion area, as well. The deal is interesting in that it makes complete sense for local newspapers to try to return to the center of community life, a position that’s been usurped by online players.
