Two new developments in the push to develop more content (aka more spaces for ad inventory).

  • NYTimes.com is hosting short films from the New York Film Festival in a move that will boost the site’s video content. So far there don’t appear to be pre-roll ads, but the offering begins to train users that the Gray Lady has more to offer than just text. Plenty of in-banner video graces the site’s special section (free subscription) dedicated to the festival.
  • Forbes.com has launched a new section going after entrepreneurs and small business owners. It’s territory trod by BusinessWeek with its SmallBiz section and e-mail newsletter.
