Verizon Wireless is planning on providing banner ads to internet sites that users access from their mobile phones next year, according to the New York Times , as part of the long expected wave of mobile advertising

Verizon Wireless is planning on providing banner ads to internet sites that users access from their mobile phones next year, according to the New York Times, as part of the long expected wave of mobile advertising.

Running Ads on mobile networks continues to gain momentum, which Verizon clearly wants to collect on. Already Verizon has been cutting deals to expand on content and ad revenue with companies like Reuters and others.

According to the story, Verizon plans to limit where ads will appear, and avoid video clips altogether.
