Ch1 Communications Inc. said it plans to create a national new media distribution network to be known as “The Sidecast Network”, which will provide technology and advertising services to bolster the emerging Net-TV marketplace.
The term “Sidecasting” has been coined to describe the variety of new-media content now being delivered to television viewers alongside traditional TV broadcasts.
The Sidecast Network opens up opportunities for digital content creators, advertisers, and electronics manufacturers to reach a new class of Internet- connected TV viewers and consumers by standardizing and simplifying the delivery of such content, Ch1 said.
In announcing a blueprint for growing The Sidecast Network to include over 150 locally-owned “Sidecast Station” retail distribution outlets, Ch1 president and CEO Reza Jalili said: “Our goal is to make the process of owning, installing, and operating a Net-TV as simple as with an ordinary TV.”
The company said it has developed proprietary software that shares the display screen between traditional television video and digital media. The company’s proprietary back-end systems manage the digital delivery process.
Ch1 Communications is a privately held company based in New York City.
