Electric Classifieds Selects NetOwl for Intelligent Ad Parsing Software

“The parsing of bulk data is a critical function in an online classifieds system and IsoQuest offers the most sophisticated parsing technology in the industry,” said Bill Gimbel, vice president of development at San Francisco-based ECI.
“We have chosen NetOwl for Classifieds as a component of our new Internet Classifieds Engine because it allows us to embed the technology underneath a control layer that dynamically tailors the parser to the structure of our customer’s online classifieds site. The flexibility and control this provides publishers is unprecedented,” he said.
Based on advanced linguistic technology originally developed for government intelligence applications, NetOwl for Classifieds accurately interprets the content of transportation, real estate and employment ads, including nested ads, dealer ads and long-liners.
NetOwl enables newspapers and other content providers to increase profits by publishing online faster, packaging classifieds for redistribution, and reducing costs associated with classified ad production and management, Fairfax, VA-based IsoQuest said.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
