Execs & Accounts: New CEO at BuzzLogic, Yahoo Sales Upheaval

David Hills takes reins at BuzzLogic; IPG Media Lab fills leadership posts; another Yahoo reorg.

BuzzLogic named Dave Hills, formerly of LookSmart and 24/7 Real Media, as its CEO.

Hills told ClickZ, “All online content is social over the course of time. When someone posts an article online it sparks a conversation. The conversation is horizontal, as people will either comment on the publication or link to it via their blog or a social network in some form or another.”

He said BuzzLogic’s socially-oriented network helps brands be part of the conversation. The company also announced promotions to its executive team, including the addition of Jay Budzik to its board. Other appointments include Peter O’Sullivan as chief revenue officer and Seph Zdarko as chief operating officer.

IPG’s Media Lab filled key leadership posts in NY and CA. Reuben Steiger joins  as SVP and general manager of the New York Office. Zach Gallagher and Tim McAtee join as general manager, Los Angeles and research director, San Francisco, respectively. Reporting to Managing Partner Brian Monahan, the leadership team is charged with developing and delivering custom client solutions to UM, Initiative, Mediabrands Ventures and the greater IPG network.

LivingSocial appointed former Yahoo exec Mitch Spolan as its SVP of national sales. Ending a long term with Yahoo, where he led the field sales operation, Spolan will take charge of LivingSocial’s national accounts. In the role he will expand the nationwide team to work with advertisers and marketers to better leverage LivingSocial’s marketing platform.

Meanwhile, Yahoo! has undertaken an ad sales reorg. With Spolan’s departure (above), Yahoo has hired Liz Ritzcovan as VP of marketing solutions, leading sales development. It has also promoted Andrea Morokutti to VP of sales operations and strategy. Both Ritzcovan and Morokutti will report directly to Wayne Powers, head of U.S. ad sales.

Nestle Appoints DraftFCB Chicago as AOR for Tombstone. Nestle appointed DraftFCB Chicago as agency of record for its Tombstone frozen pizza account. DraftFCB will work on digital, mobile, social media and shopper marketing. Separately, Nestle recently gave WPP’s JWT New York its $50 million Lean Cuisine ad account, Chicago Business reports.

Definition 6 has been named AOR for Rubbermaid Commercial Products. Rubbermaid appointed Atlanta-based interactive shop Definition 6 its new agency of record. Definition 6 will help RCP with campaign planning and execution for new product launches, as well as strategy, planning and execution of digital marketing, promotions, public relations and advertising.
