Facebook is rolling out a new tool which allows users to make donations to charities with the simple click of a button. The ‘Donate’ button – which was introduced in 2013 to a select number of charities – can now be used for all non-profits on Facebook pages and link ads.
In a Facebook post, the social network announced: “Now, it’s easier than ever for nonprofits to connect with people who care about their causes and encourage them to contribute through the website of their choice.”
Like the ‘Shop Now’ and ‘Book Now’ buttons introduced last year, ‘Donate’ takes users to sites outside of Facebook, which departs from the previous ‘Donate button’ – which asked for donations in-app.
“Every day, people use Facebook to raise awareness and support for causes they care about and to motivate others to do the same,” said a Facebook spokesperson. “We’re inspired by how much good comes from these connections, so we’ve added a ‘Donate Now’ call-to-action on Pages and link ads to make those connections easier than ever.”
