The new Panda Update has arrived. About 4 months after the release of Panda 4.0, Google has announced a new iteration of the algorithm update designed to promote quality content search and drive out thin or poor content.
But what domains have lost or gained visibility on the search tool?
Google announced the update via the Google+ Profile of an employee last week, with its “slow” rollout expected to conclude next week. The update affects about 3%-5% of search queries.
Searchmetrics Suite has put the update to the test, plotting data based on the organic SEO Visibility for each domain for all researched keywords, compared to their last data point.
Panda Updates are supposed to remove redundant, irrelevant content and spam from Google’s index. So far, this is nothing new. The interesting thing about the current Panda generation is the fact that apparently smaller and medium high-quality websites are supposed to benefit from the update.
Have a look at the top 10 winners and losers in the UK (click for larger/full results):

I thought this version of panda was supposed to help small businesses. Looks and feels like it made it even harder to be a small business owner online!
Your losers includes phones4u.co.uk this is because they are bankrupt and have taken site down and an administrator letter placed.
Hi Richard, admittedly it seems Searchmetrics Suites’ data may not include environmental factors – but the rest of the data makes for an interesting observation!
Yeah there’s a number of big companies that were affected by the update, both in the beginning and during the most recent 4.1 roll out. We did a case study of some of the effected companies on our blog recently that you might find interesting… http://www.riverbedmarketing.com/what-is-google-panda/
Notice from your losers 5 are .co.uk and winners 1 is .co.uk, are .co.uk treated worse now in UK or just coincidence ?
Excellent post. Added to it, here is an interesting INFOGRAPHIC and history of Google Panda: http://digitalora.com/2014/10/03/google-panda-things-you-should-know/
Looking for the new Penguin update – hello Google… it’s almost a full year now ;-)
