Google testing ads in its app store

Google has found a new place to put search ads: in its Google Play app store. Similar to Google’s traditional search ads, the Google Play search ads will appear labelled atop the results for searches conducted within the app store.
Jerry Dischler, Google’s VP-product management for AdWords explained:
“In many ways it’s very similar to Google search. We’re getting users at the point of intent when they’re looking for apps, and we’re offering them a high-quality way for them to consider other apps via a paid experience.”
Google haven’t disclosed the advertisers involved with the test, and have not yet finalised pricing.
According to reports, to strengthen what it offers app developers amid the rising competition, on Tuesday Google acquired Toro, a company that had specialized in Facebook’s app-install ads.
