'Hashflag' reborn to capture World Cup hysteria

The 'hashflag' extension allows fan's to tweet a '#' followed by their country's three-letter abbreviation to reveal a flag to decorate Twitter with international revelry.

Painting yourself with national pride during the World Cup just became easier following the reintroduction of ‘hashflags’ on Twitter.

Twitter announced the rebirth of the ‘hashflag’ yesterday after its extreme popularity during the 2010 World Cup – the extension allows fan’s to tweet a ‘#’ followed by their country’s three-letter abbreviation to reveal a flag to wave their support through the social engine.
