Airline Lufthansa has released an augmented reality app to allow prospective travellers to explore its Premium Economy offerings.
The German airliner is claiming a world first – as it does not require a specific logo or image to activate it – users will be able to give birth to an augmented mile-high seat in exchange for a quick doodle.
Developed by digital agency Space, the app is available to iPad and iPhone users running iOS 7 or later.
In the spirit of mutual creation, users who download the app will be asked to grab a pen and paper and “draw something that flies”. Users will then be asked to scan their flight-born scribbles in exchange to see an AR Premium Economy seat magically appear on their screens.
The augmented idea is to promote the 50% of extra legroom offered with the new Premium Economy seats.
