Car giant Mercedes-Benz has announced it will become a commercial partner for Google Glass in the launch of a new trial navigation system.
The trial will see in-car GPS coupled with Google’s hi-tech specs in a bid to create a ‘door-to-door navigation experience’ which allows users to be guided on and off the road.
“We definitely see wearable devices as another trend in the industry that is important to us,” commented Johann Jungwirth, Mercedes’ North American R&D President & CEO in a recent interview with Wired. “We have been working with Glass for roughly six months and meeting with the Google Glass team regularly.”
Google Glass is to go on commercial release as of next year, but unfortunately Brits may not be able to experience the technology themselves after the Government revealed it was in talks to ban drivers from using Glass in fears that the technology would stop driver “paying proper attention to the road”.
