New research conducted by eMarketer has revealed that the combined revenues of Facebook and Google equate for almost half the £6.1 billion digital ad market.
On its own, Google boasts an impressive 43% of all UK digital ad revenues, a 1.1% rise from 2012, and is predicted to reach 46% in two years. Comparatively, Facebook makes up 5% of the spend, but is expected to grow exponentially in the not too distant future.
Mobile advertising was pinpointed as a huge reason behind growth for both the aforementioned companies and market in general. The research predicts UK mobile advertising spending to reach almost £1 billion this year, which accounts for 16.5% of overall digital ad spending. When compared to last years figure of 9.7%, the growth in mobile is obvious.
eMarketer reportedly predicts mobile to account for nearly half (44.4%) of digital ad spending and nearly a quarter of all ad spending in the UK by 2017.
