A new tongue-in-cheek Tumblr blog, aptly entitled ‘this is not an insight‘, has been set up by a creative anonymous author (or potentially authors) that takes a funny look at the quotes tweeted by those attending Chinwag‘s Social Media Week London that contain the #SMWLDN hashtag.
For example, when media agency Really Bright Media tweeted “When running #Facebook ads, regularly check your ads manager to see which ads are working, pause the ones that aren’t performing #smwldn” the authors reacted with a flabbergasted “INCONCEIVABLE”.
Tweeter Emily Underwood got even more of a backlash for her tweet that stated: “We don’t want THINGS, we want the EXPERIENCES they can provide. #smw #smwldn #collaborativeconsumption #future” and was met by this reaction: “NONE OF US WANT VODKA. BUT WE WANT THE NUMBNESS IT PROVIDES TO KEEP READING THIS DRIVEL.”
According to The Drum, most people are happy to be included in the blog, which describes Social Media Week as ‘The first place to hear everything last’. Apparently Jeremy Waite, Head of Social Strategy at Adobe EMEA, has even jokingly offered £100 to the creator if they dare reveal their identity.
An entertaining read for sure, we love this blog and everything about its bluntness. Keep up the good work, cloaked author!
