According to a new report from marketing network experts Affiliate Window, the number of consumers buying items via their handset is on the rise. September 2013 results revealed that an impressive 23.05% of all sales were through mobile devices (including tablets) – an increase from the 22.37% recorded in August.
A comparison of sales taking place via Android and iPhone devices was also carried out, with the Android Tablets generating an average of 1010 sales every day throughout September, and iPhones generating a massive 138 sales an hour throughout August.
The data reveals that mobile traffic is currently converting at 3.42%, which is again an increase from the 2.98% recorded in August.
As well as this, the report shows the increasing conversion rates across mobile devices, which have continued outperform desktop sales for the third month in a row.
Companies looking to stay ahead of their rivals must ensure their sites are optimised for a range of different mobile devices, as new technology continues to drive the busy consumers to choose mobile over desktop.
We’re a small fashion retailer in the UK and our audience are aged between 18-25. From what we can see on our website http://www.71queens.com most of the traffic is viewed and purchased through mobile devices and interestingly, the most popular are Samsung, not iphones.
It’s imperative that retailers get on-board with the mobile consumer, improving your mobile experience should be top of your list for things to start before 2014. We used Shopify with a responsive theme built by Content Hub. Highly recommended. http://www.contenthub.co.uk
I Run http://www.WhatUsersDo.com (the user experience testing platform). We have seen a doubling of testing projects on mobile this year (we have lots of retail clients) so i am surprised the figure is only 1 in 4 i would expect it to be higher than that considering how many are optimising now….
