PointCast Names Execs to Lead New Advertising Sales Team

PointCast Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA,said it is forming a new executive team to oversee the company's rapidlygrowingadvertising sales business.

PointCast Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA, said it is forming a new executive team to oversee the company’s rapidly growing advertising sales business.

Heading the team will be Douglas Boake, former vice president of international, who has been named senior vice president of sales. In addition, Lisa Gerould has been promoted to vice president of advertiser marketing and brand development, and Don Albert has been promoted to vice president of strategic sales and affiliate development. Kristy Newton will continue in her role as managing director, advertising sales.

“Boake built PointCast Japan from scratch and in record time created a thriving business with excellent content, advertising sales and viewership in the region,” said David Dorman, chairman, president and CEO of PointCast. “Under Doug’s results-oriented leadership, I’m confident the team will grow revenue at an unprecedented rate.”

“In just two years this team has established PointCast as a critical buy with advertisers and grown revenue to join the ranks of the top 10 Internet companies as measured by advertising sales,” Boake said. “I’m looking forward to designing new sponsorship, e-commerce and other opportunities to fuel even greater growth.”

Boake replaces Anna Zornosa, formerly senior vice president of advertising sales and affiliate relations, who is leaving the company. Separately, PointCast said Greg Hassett, cofounder of PointCast, will assume the role of PointCast Fellow, where he will serve as a technical advisor to the company and will remain on the board of directors.

As vice president of advertiser marketing and brand development, Gerould will be responsible for directing sales and marketing strategy to the ad community and forging closer ties with individual advertisers. Gerould spent 12 years at San Francisco advertising agency, Foote, Cone & Belding, where she served as vice president of account planning and held senior account management positions.

As vice president of strategic sales and affiliate development, Albert will be responsible for developing new revenue opportunities for the company, including e-commerce. In addition, he will maintain his responsibilities for the management of PointCast’s relationships with media companies such as CNN, Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition, Time Warner, and The New York Times.

Newton, managing director, U.S. advertising sales, will remain in charge of PointCast’s national advertising sales force.
