As the first day of the first ever Digital Marketing Show drew to a close, we thought we'd let our readers know what we got up to during those few hours! There was talk of werewolves, the rise in the use of integrated marketing campaigns, and the importance of staying relevant and on-trend for consumers - check it out!

As the first day of the first ever Digital Marketing Show drew to a close, we thought we’d let our readers know what we got up to during those few hours! There was talk of werewolves, the rise in the use of integrated marketing campaigns, and the importance of staying relevant and on-trend for consumers, and that was just the morning…

Soon after we took up residence in the .rising studio at section A30 of the exhibition hall at the ExCel Centre, Paul Shanley from Associated Press came to chat to us about the importance of producing fun, engaging content. After that, we headed to Liz Jackson’s and Julia Payne’s talk on ‘Clicks, Content and Conversions’, before interviewing some other early risers on fun and emerging industry trends.

Fresh from his talk, networking expert Andy Lopata spoke to Lucy about the importance of social networking and building up a buzzing community of like-minded individuals, offering us insights into how young digital marketers can get into the industry with the help of online networks.

Next we had a chat with James Whatley about his love for Halloween, how lame Twilight werewolves are, and of course, stuff to do with digital marketing… lead social strategist at Ogilvy & Mather Advertising, London as well as Head of Social Media at Soho Square London, Whatley offered us his take on the digital marketing trends of 2013 and 2014, and emphasised the importance of engaging, on-point and personal marketing. We also spoke about fake blood, but that’s a story for a different time…

We then grabbed (not physically) the lovely Charlotte Sumner from Pancentric to find out her take on email marketing and integrated campaigns, and spoke to Paul Papadimitriou, a management consultant who specialises in helping businesses tap into emerging youth markets, about his take on the status of the industry.

Skip Fedura from dotMailer popped by to chat with us about email marketing campaigns and how awesome Croydon is (he can’t get enough of it), while Malcolm Graham, CEO at LimeTree, spoke about the importance of social media in enhancing a brand’s appeal.

We caught up with a whole host of other digital marketing big wigs too, including Tom Pepper, MD at Vibrant Media, who emphasised the importance of staying in touch with all the latest trends, and we can’t wait to get the videos up on YouTube for your viewing pleasure.
