The Wednesday morning saw us head straight to Jonny Kaldor’s discussion about the changing state of publishing. Urging publishers to the embrace the rise in digital by optimising their sites, magazines and newsletters for tablet and mobile devices, Jonny used companies like Grazia as prime examples of publishers that are successfully jumping on the online publishing bandwagon, optimising their sites to deliver a fluid and interactive digital experience for readers.
After his talk, Jonny came to speak to us about the importance of staying fresh and up-to-date with the latest tech trends and offered us interesting insights into the industry. We also got to chat with Bob Canaway, VP Marketing at Ektron, about his thoughts on integrated digital websites, as well as Lindsay Herbett, Head of Digital at Precedent, who offered us her thoughts on what young digital marketers can do to impress industry experts (a hint: get some practical experience and paid work – don’t just let your qualifications speak for themselves!).
Alainn Portmann of House of Kaizen (pictured) came to talk to us about all things digital marketing, and Robert Bean of Robert Bean Branding discussed the exciting world of branding and how he helps companies arrive at their true core brand message.
Danny Denhard also popped by to talk to us about traffic optimisation and how companies need to start utilising their social media accounts as sites in and of themselves, rather than tools to drive customers to their websites.
Another fab day by all accounts, and we’re excited to meet more industry experts on Thursday 28th – come say hey at the .rising studio, section A30!
