Not dissimilar to Black Friday – a day popularly associated with the war-like shopping frenzy for bargain hunting, last minute shoppers – Sofa Sunday is predicted to record high figures for internet commerce.
Jon Owen, retail director at Shop Direct, owner of brands such as very.co.uk and Lttlewoods, said: “Sofa Sunday is when they browse from home. It’s a moment for online retailers to take back share from stores.”
In order to capitalise on the moment, the retailer is launching a £1m campaign, as Very.co.uk recorded its biggest ever day for sales during the event last year.
It will be interesting to see how retailers’ delivery services keep up with demand as record figures are predicted.
