Sun Microsystems signed an agreement with E! Online to sponsor the entertainment site’s coverage of the Golden Globe Awards, Oscars, Grammys, Cannes Film Festival and other Hollywood events.
Sun will be the predominant sponsor and technology contributor for six E! Online events, providing hardware, software and consulting services. Financial terms were not disclosed.
To kick off the alliance, Sun will be sponsoring E! Online’s Golden Globe Awards coverage which begins Jan. 16 and runs through the ceremony on Jan. 18. E! Online’s coverage includes live chat, a Scorecard area updated with winner names, news reports and clips from E! Entertainment Television’s preshow.
“We are now seeing the benefits of Internet technologies extend to the mass market,” said John Loiacono, vice president of brand marketing at Sun. “Teaming with a leading entertainment destination on the Web like E! Online will further showcase the potential of the Internet.”
