According to a Re/code report, Twitter’s next step is to advertise on users’ profiles. The ads will appear a few Tweets down and be labelled “suggested by Twitter”.

“We’re experimenting with this feature, as we do with all our ad features, in order to create great experiences for our users, advertisers and partners,” a spokesperson said in a statement to Re/code.

As Mashable has pointed out, while these experimental ads will only be displayed for Twitter users who are logged in, it’s possible that could change down the road once the company’s recently reported deal with Google rolls out.

For now, the test is live on Twitter’s Web and mobile versions for a small portion of its audience.
