New figures released by the Advertising Association have revealed that the overall advertising spend in the UK rose once more by 3% in the first six months of 2013.

New UK ad spend continues to climb as nation embraces digital figures released by the Advertising Association have revealed that the overall advertising spend in the UK rose once more by 3% in the first six months of 2013.

According to the data, advertising spend has now returned to the healthy level it reached before the recession struck in 2007, helped along by massive increases in mobile spending (which is up by 128%) and search (up by 18%). It is predicted the expenditure will reach £17.7 billion in 2013 as a result.

Based on the new figures, the Advertising Association is predicting a 5.2% increase in ad spend for 2014, bringing expenditure up to a massive all-time high of £18.7 billion.

Tim Lefroy, Chief Executive of the Advertising Association, commented: “These numbers suggest growing confidence and that is good news – not only for UK advertising but for the consumer goods, digital and creative industries it underpins.”
