EE has unveiled an online streaming promotion to comfort the bereaved Orange Wednesday fan – which allows customers to watch films online for £1.
The phone giant has partnered with Wukai.tv for the new marketing scheme in a bid to capture a more online audience – as new research suggests that 50% of UK adults download or stream films and TV shows every month.
EE customers who text ‘film’ to 141 will receive a promotional code which can be redeemed on the Wukai site or app, which streams films from Disney to Gone Girl. The EE Film Club will be available from 30 March.
Users can hire a film for 48 hours to be consumed on mobile, smart TV, games console, desktop or tablet.
EE CMO Pippa Dunn said: “More people than ever before are downloading and streaming movies so they can watch at home or on the go.
“With 1 in 3 UK adults enjoying digital entertainment every week – and this number is only going to grow – our viewing habits are clearly evolving. This reaffirms our commitment to put customers first as we deliver a series of new offers in 2015.”
The offer is only available between Mondays and Wednesdays, with texts costing 35p. Customers must also sign up to Wukai.tv to receive the offer – which is one film per week, per code.
