Profits at the search giant were up 90% year-on-year to $806m, but Facebook admitted that its expenses would jump to as much as 75% in 2015.
Despite the positive growth, the financial data for the three months ending 30 September 2014 saw Facebook’s share price down 10% in after-hours trading.
Facebook’s high costs were 41% higher than the same period last year – reaching $1.81bn.
Recruiting brands to the social platform saw revenue jump up 59% on the same period last year.
It seems like only yesterday that the mobile arm of Facebook’s operations was insignificant, now smartphone ads accounted for 66% of Facebook’s ad revenue in Q3 – up 49% from the same time last year.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and chief executive, said: “This has been a good quarter with strong results.
“We continue to focus on serving our community well and continue to invest in connecting the world over the next decade.”
