Vitrue and MailChimp have partnered to allow brands to more easily add Facebook “likers” to their email lists and then segment them according to region or preferred language.
On the social site’s platform, the vendors’ technology lets a brand incorporate a “Join Our Email List” slot on its Facebook Pages where visitors can input their address before receiving a confirmation/opt-in email. Companies using the system can automate segmentation based on location and language, according to Vitrue and MailChimp.
In theory, a big brand could use its Facebook Page to create customized email lists and offers that specifically target people who “like” their brands based on their location, such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and other markets.
The Atlanta-based vendors didn’t disclose brand clients that plan to incorporate the module. Vitrue’s clients include McDonald’s, American Express, Intel, as well as several advertising agencies.
