Deutsch/LA wins Zillow's business; Backfence staffs up in Chicago; Optiem hires Fresty as CD, Donahue as developer; MediaSpan promotes Roberts.

Interpublic Group’s Deutsch/LA has won Zillow.com’s creative and media business. The Zillow.com site offers real estate evaluations and related services.

Local community site publisher Backfence.com has hired Andy Vogel as general manager and Robert Reed to content manager and editor in its Chicago area office. The two will assist in the launch of its suburban Chicago sites later this month. Vogel comes from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel where he headed up digital strategy. Reed hails from Crain’s Chicago Business where he acted as editor.

Interactive marketing agency Optiem has added Paul Fresty as a creative director and Michael Donahue as developer. Before joining Optiem, Fresty held the creative director position at IdeaStar Inc. Donahue previously worked as network administrator at Transilwrap Plastics.

Local online media services firm MediaSpan has promoted Dan Roberts, former CFO of MediaSpan Media Software to EVP of the software division. Roberts has also served as MediaSpan corporate controller/treasurer. In his new position, Roberts is charged with managing all aspects of the Media Software business unit in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Melbourne, Fla.

Napster has added Evan Cowitt and Mike Owen to its in-house ad sales team. Cowitt, who will act as VP of advertising sales, Western United States, was previously with FOX Interactive’s IGN Entertainment Inc. where he led entertainment ad sales. Owen, who will serve as director of advertising sales, Eastern United States, hails from Entertainment Weekly where he served as director of Eastern Ad Sales for EW.com.

Mobile marketing agency ipsh! has opened a London office in conjunction with Omnicom’s agency network Zulu. The mobile firm has hired former consultant Craig Patton as managing director of its European division.

Mobile in-game ad network Greystripe has aligned with game publisher Alten8. Alten8’s free mobile games now will feature ad content using Greystripe’s AdWrap for Publishers technology. Greystripe will also distribute Alten8’s games through its mobile Web site and catalog partner program.
