A Mickey Mouse Deal for Travelocity

The online travel operation signs with Disney to package theme-park vacationsunder the Travelocity Vacations brand.

Online travel operation Travelocity.com signed a deal to work directly with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts to package vacations with theme park tickets and on-site hotel room inventory.

The packages will be marketed under the Travelocity Vacations brand as a Walt Disney World Resort product and will launch later this quarter. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

As air travel bookings have declined after the events of Sept. 11, many travel sites are moving to diversify their revenue streams, and Travelocity is no exception.

The Fort Worth, Texas-based company will offer land-only and air-inclusive vacation packages for all on-site Walt Disney World Resort hotels and will include admission to Disney’s theme parks in Orlando, Fla.

Disneyland Resort vacation packages will be added to Travelocity Vacations’ California product line later on during the year. And the Disney vacation packages will be available for booking either online or over the phone with a Travelocity.com vacation professional.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts is a unit of The Walt Disney Co.

“We have tremendous customer demand for Disney’s products, and are delighted to offer theme park tickets and packages for all onsite hotels at the Walt Disney World Resort,” said Terrell B. Jones, president and chief executive officer of Travelocity.com.

Travelocity said it also will work with Disney to incorporate extensive Disney content into the its vacation section. Travelocity already features Disney Cruise Vacations.

The travel company posted pro forma income of 9 cents per share for its fourth quarter on gross travel bookings of $630.2 million. Last week it signed a marketing deal with Northwest Airlines.
