GroupM makes Allan CEO of MediaCom; Coke man moves to Phorm; Brightcove scores video deal with Number 10.
GroupM has named Stephen Allan chairman & CEO of MediaCom Worldwide. He succeeds Alexander Schmidt-Vogel, who will take up the newly created position of CEO, global trading, of GroupM’s worldwide business.
Nick Theakstone, who had previously served as COO of GroupM U.K., will take over from Allan as CEO. He will be responsible for managing all of GroupM’s U.K. properties, including MediaCom, MindShare and Mediaedge:cia.
Phorm has hired former Coca-Cola COO, Steven Heyer, as Chairman. CEO Kent Urtugrul will continue in his role as chief executive, having previously held both positions. Heyer has been on the board of the behavioral targeting ad firm since October 2007.
Brightcove has announced that the British Prime Minister’s Office, 10 Downing Street, will use its online video platform to offer video content through its Web site. Number10.gov.uk will provide public access to exclusive video of the Prime Minister’s speeches, media appearances and press conferences.
Sky has appointed Tim Hussain as its first head of mobile ad sales. Hussain, who is currently head of mobile at AOL U.K., will be responsible for expanding commercial opportunities around the satellite TV firm’s mobile content. He will report into Giles Ivey, sales director for Sky Digital Media, and Andy Jonesco, MD of Sky’s online business unit.
