Publicis grabs Carrefour Account; Bigmouthmedia gets lastminute's McCaig; New account for Minute Steak

Carrefour, one of Europe’s largest retailers, is consolidating its entire advertising account with Publicis Groupe. The account, which is worth a reported €1 billion, will include the retailer’s domestic and international ad spend.

Additionally, the Groupe’s VivaKi division has appointed Nick Burcher to the newly created role of head of social media and audience messages for the EMEA region. Burcher, a former Zed Media director, will work across a range of Publicis brands, including Starcom, Zenith Optimedia, Performics, and Zed, to further develop their digital capabilities.

Digital marketing agency Bigmouthmedia has appointed lastminute.com CEO, Ian McCaig, to the company’s board of directors. McCaig will join the firm in a non-executive capacity, and will retain his current role at lastminute, a travel site.

Minute Steak, the specialist SEM offshoot of Steak, has been appointed to manage paid search activity for Leicester Square Box Office. The newly launched firm will oversee campaign management, keyword generation, ad copy creation, keyword level tracking, and optimization and analysis for the London-based box office.

Paid search specialist Jellyfish has won a 12-month contract with U.K.-based hotel booking agency, HotelConnect, after a competitive pitch against rival search firm Greenlight. The deal will see Jellyfish create a series of tailored landing pages specifically designed to increase conversion among customers travelling to Europe, the U.S., the Caribbean, and the Middle East, and will utilize Jellyfish’s Cost Per Acquisition model.
