A survey conducted by London-based GlobalWebIndex has revealed that Facebook is the most popular social network site in the world, with Google+ pipping both Twitter and LinkedIn to the post to be awarded second place.
The report examined usage of the world’s five major social platforms over the second quarter of this year and revealed that that Google+ now boasts 318.4m active users across 31 markets.
Facebook, Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest all saw the engagement rates of active users fall this quarter in comparison to the last, but Facebook still remains the master of engagement, boasting 62% of active account holders.
Other interesting data has also been revealed, such as the fact that relatively young sites, Pinterest and Tumblr, are the two fastest growing social platforms year on year, growing an impressive 88 per cent and 74 per cent each.
