Established to compliment Oldham College’s major redevelopment plans – the Digital & Creative Career College (DCCC) will seek to plug the growing digital skills shortage currently crippling the UK’s booming tech scene.
A 2013 report commissioned by O2 estimated that 745,000 additional workers with digital skills would be needed to meet the needs of the UK economy by 2017. This skill shortage is amplified in Manchester and MediaCity:UK, and the DCCC will help bridge this shortfall with talent from the East and North of Greater Manchester.
Stars of the Manchester digital scene have helped shape the courses on offer, and TV’s tech expert and futurologist, Tom Cheesewright, will welcome new students to the DCCC and talk to them about the exciting possibilities ahead.
Dedicated to creative and digital technologies, the DCCC will move into a brand new £9m building in Spring 2015. Specialising in design and content creation, development for software and web, audio and visual arts, the DCCC will use world-class techniques and equipment to inspire creators, makers and enablers of future technological change.
